Doctors Chanting Money, Money

Whooping amount of 8-20 lakhs! This is the package which is attracting the doctors now towards the world of BPO (Business Process Outsourcing).

Doctors, after the professionals like engineers, lawyers and charter accountants, have also started gearing up to join the alternative career options for medicos.

Medical transcription, also known as MT, is an allied health profession, which deals in the process of transcription, or converting voice-recorded reports as dictated by physicians and/or other healthcare professionals into text format. Doctors are also hired for training the workforce. They also work as quality analyst for the medical transcription work.

However, some companies also provides high-end knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) where a doctor is required to study the reports of elderly patients and do risk assessment and prepare reports for health Insurance companies in the US.

By outsourcing these jobs, the hospitals and clinics in the US aim to reduce their administrative burden but are increasing the social burden of India.

Owing to the reason that India has 60 doctors/lakh population whereas the USA has 279, the movement of doctors into process outsourcing jobs may turn lethal in a due course when no doctor will be available to entertain your child or even you!

The obvious reason for this social phenomenon is - the doctors are also enjoying this corporate job which is coming with fat pay-packet.
